Pereira, Colombia Colombia

Pereira, the capital of Risaralda, is a beautiful and lively university city located in a small valley that descends from a part of the western Andes mountain chain. Pereira is a perfect gateway to the beautiful sweeping hills of Risaralda. The main attractions of Pereira are the Museo Arqueológico Jaime Mejía on the Quimbaya culture, Lago Uribe, the Municipal Palace administration buildings located at Plaza Bolivar, the Gothic-style church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, and the Cathedral La Pobreza. The city has an important park called El Cedral, where you can enjoy beautiful views overlooking the city and the surrounding mountains. Pereira is known as the Coffee Capital of Colombia and is located at the center of one of the most enjoyable regions in the country. From Pereira, you can easily reach the Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados, where you can see the snow-capped mountain Santa Isabel and the lagoons of Otún, Negra, and Leona.
